More strange creatures

Olivier, especially for you...more bugs I photographed in Madagascar. Any ideas?

Hey handsome...with you pretty colors!

I find this one particularly gross...and on our kitchen floor!
Inchy winchy in his yellow web...
Come out, come out ...whatever you are!
last but not least:

Wiggley: which end is head and which is tail?

Moth in pretty cloth...bigger than my two hands!

  1. For the locust, I found a nearly identical one on http://www.whatsthatbug.com/2008/12/28/rainbow-bush-locust-from-madagascar/

    with the comment:
"This is a toxic species of grasshopper in the family Pyrgomorphidae, known commonly as a Gaudy Grasshopper. We posted a nearly identical specimen in January 2006 and it was identified as Phymateus saxosus with common names Rainbow Bush Locust, Rainbow Milkweed Locust, or Giant Milkweek Locust. The toxicity comes from eating milkweed."

The spider could be Nephila madagascariensis, a silk spider (but not sure of course). Nice yellow web.
Apparently The American Museum of Natural History in New York is displaying a length of cloth made entirely from Madagascar golden orb spider silk .

  2. The green guy in the bottom picture is much like the fellows we have around our house and I mean outside not inside. There are so many that I consider them our guard dogs.
